SAT Math
I have helped many students prepare and raise their score on the math portion of the SAT. I concentrate on raising both skill and confidence for this test - mostly by concentrating on the fundamental skills needed to answer the questions. I teach a method by which students can decipher the head-spinning word problems on the test, and make it easy to understand exactly what is being asked. Rather than just helping students solve any particular math problem, I always have my eye out for how the student is thinking and where their difficulties are, allowing me to quickly identify and efficiently address any underlying weaknesses. I have been told I can explain math concepts in an easy to understand and easy to remember way. We also discuss the timing of the test, and strategies to maximize one's score.
I've often heard, "I'm not a good test taker." Sometimes anxiety or panic drains or freezes a student. If this is you, I can help. Good preparation, and knowing how to handle what is to come, is a good first step. Being aware of the kinds of errors you might make, and knowing what to do when you are confused, stuck or frozen are the kinds of things I can help with. Together, let's alleviate the anxiety this test can often produce.
